website acceptence review 15:00 UTC tomorrow 20 October

jody.garnett
Results of doodle poll are in, review time is 15:00 UTC Friday 20 October on hangout.

I reached out to the board members and Angelos is able to join us.

Spreadsheet above based on the "site map", making a note of content we expected migrated from drupal.

1) confirm migrated content
2) confirm site map functionality (we expect some pages to be missing osgeo supplied content, example geoforall)
3) inventory osgeo supplied content, noting missing items that need to be written
4) make a motion to accept component 2 website

This is a work party, so we can split up to check the pages.

Reminder, meeting starting now. If you are from europe bring your afternoon tea / beer and make this a work party :)

We were also joined by Helena (thanks!).

Here are the quick results:

- we are about 50% done reviewing, good work everyone
- GeoForAll Webinar List is empty - cross link webinar events?
Filter on Resources page not working on Firefox - just a bug works on safari and chrome
- We found a fair number (20-30) sub pages missing
   a) migrate from drupal (Get Interactive); or
   b) cut and paste (OSGeo)

"OSGEO" needs to be changed to "OSGeo" at several places in

http://osgeo.getinteractive.nl/

I think, I had mentioned this before.
If all-caps is because of the font-face
being used, changing the font could kindly
be considered.

Re: website acceptence review 15:00 UTC tomorrow 20 October

jody.garnett
Yes Venka you mentioned it before, and we brought it up in one of the weekly meetings but I cannot see it mentioned in the meeting notes.

As I recall this was awkward for the graphics designer; not sure why call capitals is visually important. I guess the actions buttons and menus are always all capitals.

I wonder if "small caps" could be used as a compromise "OSGEO" (but perhaps that is just silly).

I am reporting the issue here - https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/issues/146

Aside: When we started the review I was given access to edit menus (in case we had any site map gaps) and looking now I can see that the menu items are indeed "OSGeo" (not "OSGEO") internally.

Venka can I ask you to review the screen snap attached to the image ticket - https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/issues/146

It is quite a visual change removing capital letters; do you think it is worth it?

Re: website acceptence review 15:00 UTC tomorrow 20 October

nicolas bozon
+1 for using lower case with capital letters when needed, thanks Venka, and Jody.

The whole menu looks much better like this, thanks Jeffrey & Pim for the preview image.

This is good timing to recall that OSGeo should always be written OSGeo, and that our acronym should never be written OSGEO, osgeo or whatever wrong case.

Such rule should be stated very clearly by Mark'comm and be included in the Style Guide IMHO (on page 12 'Logo usage: Don't, or on page 8 'Typography principles)

Best,

Nick
