MapServer by default won't render an image bigger than 2048 x 2048.
If you bump the metaSize down to 4,4, it should work... I think :)

That explains the MapServer problem, however my real issue is with a
Mapnik layer. It did seem to generate tiles but placed them with some
offset regarding to their real geographic location.
I'm not sure what's the size limit of a Mapnik image, but lowering the
metaSize to 3,3 makes things better.
