get selected layer from enable layer table

hi...i have a query here...
i have used enableLayerTable(true) in my code..the output is as shown in the image. I hve added multiple layers. Can someone help me to get the string of the name of the layer which is SELECTED ie. on which the blue colored box is made.(INDIA_boundary_arc)
I m not gettin any method that gives the string of the selected layer.

first of all i am new user for gis programing but not for the GIS.
can u tell me which api or package u have used for this developing applet or else.
where i have started my carrer with gis programing?
can u guide me flow by flow from the begin.

When I use JMapFrame.enableLayerTable(true); The table appear in my window but it doesn't have any list of layer inside. Where I'm doing somenthing wrong???
