custrom CRS - transformation parameters are still intact?

Attila Berenyi

Hi,

I have been struggling with this problem for quite a some time now.

In a nutshell:

1.    I have defined a custom ED50 UTM 31N (EPSG:23031) projection in the epsg_overrides.properties file (replaced the original TOWGS84 parameter set with TOWGS84[-89.5, -93.8, -123.1, 0.0, 0.0, -0.156, 1.2]).

2.    If I check the TOWGS84 parameter using the SRS list or the Reprojection console it shows the correct numbers.

3.    However, testing the parameters using the Reprojection console keeps failing. The ‘Show transformation details’ window shows the ‘original’ parameters (PARAMETER["dx", -116.641], PARAMETER["dy", -56.931], PARAMETER["dz", -110.559], PARAMETER["ex", 0.893], PARAMETER["ey", 0.921], PARAMETER["ez", -0.917], PARAMETER["ppm", -3.5200000000346066]) and not the ones I have defined in the epsg_overrides.properties.

As a workaround I have reprojected the source geometry in PostGIS and republished the GeoServer layer, but I’d like to have a robust solution.

Thanks.

Cheers,

Attila

Not sure why it's not working. You might want to try providing custom transform params instead using epsg_operations.properties:

Hi Andrea,

Thanks for the quick response, I managed to solve the issue by defining the correct projection parameters in the epsg_operations.properties file.

Cheers,

Attila

Hi Attila,

I read you always solved your issue using the epsg_operations.properties file.
Anyway I guess it should also work with proper CRs overriding on epsg_overrides.properties file.
I had a similar issue last week.
I defined an override for EPSG:3003 with a different set of TOWGS84 parameters, but it was not working. As in your case GeoServer continued using the CRS definition from standard EPSG db.
I then tried to use the same WKT in epsg.properties with custom code 103003 and it didn't work, so I double checked the WKT and eventually found a missing ] that I mistakenly removed when removing the EPSG code for the Datum.
May be that also in your case some typo prenvents GeoServer from using the overriding WKT?

Cheers

Stefano
