clients not connect to the internet

Martin Landa
Hi,

currently we are playing with GIS.lab unit at FEM, and we have problem
with GIS.lab clients which are not connected to the Internet. On the
server everything is OK, `ip a` says:

2: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast
state UP qlen 1000
    link/ether ec:a8:6b:fb:1e:c4 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
    inet 10.234.1.37/24 brd 10.234.1.255 scope global eth0
       valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
    inet 192.168.50.5/24 scope global eth0
       valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever

On clients:

2: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast
state UP qlen 1000
    link/ether 00:24:e8:da:e5:0a brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
    inet 192.168.50.51/24 brd 192.168.50.255 scope global eth0

Any idea why clients are not connected to the Internet? Thanks, Martin

Can you try to restart "gislab-connection-forwarding" service on server ?

$ service gislab-connection-forwarding restart

Re: clients not connect to the internet

Ludmila
Hi,

I will play with GIS.lab from Monday .. At this point in time I am here (in FEM) completely alone. Nobody is here, so I am just finishing my other stuff from Prague.
I'll provide you with an answer ASAP.

Re: clients not connect to the internet

Ludmila
In reply to this post by Martin Landa
Hi,

SO .. after many experiments the result is:

I can connect to internet with e.g. `ping 8.8.8.8` - this is working
BUT I can not connect with e.g. `ping www.google.com` .. the answer is `ping: unknown host www.google.com`

When I try to restart "gislab-connection-forwarding" service on server, I get:
`stop: Unknown instance:
start: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.14" (uid=3000 pid=19438 comm="start gislab-connection-forwarding ") interface="com.ubuntu.Upstart0_6.Job" member="Start" error name="(unset)" requested_reply="0" destination="com.ubuntu.Upstart" (uid=0 pid=1 comm="/sbin/init ")`

Any other ideas?

Ludka
