Just checking if this is still the plan, or if we've flipped these
now? I noticed that the splash for master mentions Zanzibar.

(no problem if they've been flipped!)

Re: Version names

Anita Graser
Hi Nyall,

The dev splashes are group pictures of hackfests. They don't affect our plan for the release names.

Anita

Bonus if you find an historic map of Noosa for the splash :-)

(we use old maps of the named cities for the release splashes)

Is CC-BY ok?

If possible, material that can be used without putting credits on the splash would be preferred.

Thanks!

Re: Version names

Andreas Neumann-4

Hi,

We had it before, that we have put credits for a splash screen in the QGIS about dialogue.

It was for QGIS 2.0 Dufour where we used the Swisstopo topographic map.

I don't think there should be a problem giving credits somewhere. Nothing wrong with that.

Re: Version names

Nyall Dawson
Hi Anita,

I've tracked down two suitable ones which have no copyright (copyright
has elapsed):

https://gisservices.information.qld.gov.au/arcgis/rest/directories/historicalscans/cad_scans/cad-map-2mile-qld-2m76-admin-bdy-1955.jpg
https://gisservices.information.qld.gov.au/arcgis/rest/directories/historicalscans/cad_scans/cad-map-2mile-county-march-sh2-1922.jpg

Noosa is up on the north side of these maps, just under the "Laguna
bay" text. Look for the bump in the coastline when tracing down from
the top.

The area to center on is around the Noosa Heads <-> North Head area.

Hope that's ok!

Hi,

I'm happy to present to you the draft splash screen for 3.6 Noosa!

As always, you can find the Gimp project files in the QGIS graphics folder on Google Drive.

Thanks Anita. Two notes:
* perhaps better to extend it on the right? the last A of Alguna is cut
* perhaps better to change colour? as it is, it superficially looks like
the 3.4 splash.
Cheers.

Thanks for the splash Anita. I tend to agree with Paolo, though it is
nice to use QGIS green for, the details of the old maps are not so
distinctive...

Can't we change the colors a little, maybe even between the greens
of https://qgis.org/en/site/getinvolved/styleguide.html
Or maybe even use the Lemon or Orange (use those for LTR's or so? Or the
other way around?

Regards,

Richard Duivenvoorde
