Hi All

The Loop consortium, founded as a OneGeology initiative, with geosurvey and Australian Research Council support, brings together geological surveys and research institutions in Australia, Canada, France, Germany and the UK to found a new Open Source initiative to build the next generation of 3D geological modelling tools. In parallel the Australian Government recently announced the formation of a new $215M industry & government-funded Cooperative Research Center (the MinEx CRC https://www.tectonique.net/3dgeologymodel/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/external_link16.png) focused on 3D drilling for discovery and definition of mineral deposits.

These two linked initiatives are offering several PhD and postdoc opportunities at UWA, Monash University and the Geological Survey of Canada that may interest the 3DIG group.

A full list of projects can be found at: http://loop3d.org/

Cheers

Mark
