I can confirm this bug, forwarding to the developer list. Temporary
workaround, is to press the pencil button and edit the -of part of the
command to the correct format as listed on http://gdal.org/formats_list.html

In this case it should say "-of AAIGrid"

Behavior in 1.8
Select Output, type test.asc (defaults to -of GTiff)
Select Output, Select ASC from the dropdown and type test.asc, results
in -of AAIGrid

Behavior in Master
Select Output, type test.asc (defaults to -of GTiff)
Select Output, Select ASC from the dropdown and type test.asc, results
in -of GTiff

PS: This to me highlights why we should always have the command output
at the bottom of tools (or in an advanced tab), where a user can
troubleshoot and modify a command that a dialog messes up on.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi all.
It looks easy to fix: would it be worth a 2.0.2 release?
All the best.

Hi All,

It seems a similar problem happens when while converting to idrisi format too. While the .rst extension get written, the .rdc does not get created and thus in the later stages it becomes difficult to work with idrisi format of files. Is there a way to take care of this issue and do you think this would be taken care of in the final version?

Regards

Partha

Re: [Qgis-user] Format conversion QGIS 2.0

Alex Mandel-2
As far as I can tell, it affects all formats. You have to manually
change the -of parameter of gdal_translate in the bottom box. At this
point, no it will likely not be fixed in 2.0 as that's already gone to
packaging. GDAL_tools is a python plugin though, so I'm wondering if we
might just be able to push a fix via the python plugin manager and then
users will be able to pick up the update.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex,

Thank you for suggestion. I tried the suggestion you had offered. It has worked fine. May be we just need to work this way for the time being it seems.

Partha
