Re: [Pywps-devel] PyWPS on the OSGeo-Live

Thanks Adam,

the first step would be to install the latest iso [1] in a virtual machine, see [2]
And, install pywps by running PYWPS install script

After installation, you can follow step by step the old PyWPS QuickStart and go trough each step to test it functions as expected, and fix/improve it working on the rest file fort he documentation.
Once the new doc are ready, we usually make a PR on the OsGEO Live gihub repo [3]

I’m at +5GMT usually Ion irc in the afternoon/evening.

OK, I’m new to making stuff for osgeo live, but with the blessing of the pyWPS community I’m happy to give it a go - let it stew for a bit while people who are not way ahead of GMT get a chance to wake up and read e-mail :). I’d appreciate some mentoring/guidance, I don’t want to blaze away and misrepresent a lot of work by other people here!

HI Adam, thanks for your reply!

Sure help is always welcome at any time, but for the OSGeo-Live-11 which is the version that will be distributed at FOSS4G we need contribution now.
The freeze happened  a week a go, we are now making last calls for contribution to each project with missing/broken docs.

If you’d like to contribute a QuickStart for PYWPS I’ll be happy to help in setting up a live to be used for the purpose and get familiar with the docs (simple rst files).

What is needed is to first make sure that the QuickStart [1] will work properly on the latest OSGeo-Live build [2]

Hi all

I wonder if it makes sense to have a pyWPS screenshot? There’s no graphical interface. Would some results from the QGIS WPS plugin (like QGIS screenshots from the postgis quickstart page - be useful?

I will be at FOSS4G, and happy to help put together something for a pyWPS session on the code sprint day ( - maybe we could tackle any OSGeo live issues on the day - if that isn’t too late?

Hi PyWPS devs,

I’m mailing you to seek help in working on the PyWPS QuickStart for the OSGeo-Live.

In today meeting for the OSGeo-Live project we had to go trough the list of application that requires an update to their quickstart.
PyWPS is one of them. At the moment the project is marked for retire because the quick starter is broken.

From our testing:

Update version?
Improve docs. Quickstart broken

Project Overview: Main screen shot is too small. Quickstart could do with some screen shots, (if you can provide screen shots of images such as maps which make sense). Not working in 10.5 (#1886)

I noticed that there will be a PyWPS workshops at foss4g, IMHO it is a shame to have the PyWPS retired from the live.
Is here any volunteer to work on keeping the doc up-to-date ?
I wish I could do it, but I don’t know the project very well and I still have to maintain other quick starter.
The PyWPS installer script on the live works fine. If you like to contribute a reviewed QuickStart and need help in setting up the OSGeo-live to work on the PyWPS documentation, please do not hesitate on joining the OSGeo-Live volunteers on #osgeolive
