Is there any option to grab these files from if you are no list
admin.  I tried

  alioth$ cd /srv/lists.alioth.debian.org/archives/public/pkg-grass-general
  Permission denied

Any other chance?

AFAIR you need to be the server admin, not the mailing list
admin (which is Frankie, so requests there are easy).

yes, anyone can download the full archive in mbox format from a
modification of the above URL. AFAIK it's an undocumented feature in Mailman. I'll try to look it up in my old notes;
I've had to do it before.

I'm not sure if listadmin would prefer a per-month archive or a complete archive. Anyway

One mbox per month in one final archive would be great.

as debian-gis. Feel free to subscribe there, I set emergency moderation
on this list to avoid people still send messages here.
The whole history of messages is available on l.d.o, but I did not
move the current suscribers list to the new list. It is better you did that
yourself.
