QT Designer is missing?

Casper Børgesen-2

Hi list,

I just tried to run the QT designer installed with OSGeo4W (x64) and I just get an error message that the Designer.exe cannot be found (and indeed it isn’t located within the ‘bin’ folder in the OSGeo folder.

For each QGIS version I have installed, a designer bat file is present and they all point at the designer.exe. I have updated to the latest OSGeo4W installer and reinstalled QGIS 2.18.9 just in case.

Regards, Casper

You probably installed qgis and not qgis-full.  qgis doesn't depend on
qt4-devel, which has designer.  qgis-full however does.

Same for qgis-ltr and qgis-ltr-full.

Re: QT Designer is missing?

Hi Jürgen

If I look at the various available qgis installs in OSGeo, I get the following:

*2.18.9-1 - qgis
*2.99.0-91 - qgis-dev
2.14.0-1 - qgis-full
2.99.0-1 - qgis-full-dev
2.18.0-1 - qgis-full-rel-dev
*2.14.15-1 - qgis-ltr
2.8.2-1 - qgis-ltr-full

I have installed the ones marked with '*' and the remaining 'full' seems to be older versions of the others, so normally I wouldn't look at them for missing items.

Since I haven't installed any 'full' versions and the QT designer only is available through them, why do I get Designer batch files for each of the installations I have made?

The "full" packages just have dependencies and don't have any files.  So
there's no need to update their version numbers.

qt4-devel dependency moved from the full to the qgis packages.
