October meeting

Teresa Baldwin
Hello everyone,

I know it's been a few months since our last meeting, how about an
October meeting? Richard Burcher has a couple of different topics that
he's interested in talking about, as well as a few of us went to
FOSS4G, so I'm sure there will be interesting conversation around
that. Anyone willing to share?

Let me know what dates work for the most people and I'll book our
usual room at the Fox and Feather.

Cheers,
Teresa

I guess the first question is day of the week.  Do Thursdays still work
for most people?

Following up on this.

How many people can make it on the 20th?

As an added bonus if there's time at the October meeting, or another meeting, I'm happy to talk about getting free digital television (legally) using an antenna. If you haven't heard, you can get high definition television free over the air. Doing so is quite approachable and saves a ton of cash if you don't care (that much) about niche speciality channels.

Re: October meeting

Anderson, Ian
+1 for October 20th meeting.
+1 to hear about the OTA info too.

To link the two, anyone have a rough map that shows what channels you
should be able to pick up with a given antenna at a given location in
Ottawa?

RE: October meeting

PAUL.CHURCHER
In reply to this post by Teresa Baldwin
I'm available for the 20th. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I don't think we have meet since FOSS4G in Denver. Perhaps we can get a
trip report from someone who was there?

+1 for October 20th meeting.
+1 to hear about the OTA info too.

To link the two, anyone have a rough map that shows what channels you
should be able to pick up with a given antenna at a given location in
Ottawa?

RE: October meeting

Teresa Baldwin
Just as a reminder, we do have a meeting this Thursday at the Fox and
Feather at 6pm. We have a reservation under my name and we should be
in the backroom of Fox 1 (second floor, behind the pool table) or
we'll be in the backroom of Fox 2, up on the third floor.

We have two presentations from Andrew Ross and Richard Burcher.
Hopefully this is a sign of more presentations to come!

Hope to see you all there!
Teresa

RE: October meeting

Andrew Ross-2
In reply to this post by PAUL.CHURCHER
Hi Everyone,

A reminder of tonight's meeting. I'll send another more obvious subject email to reminder those not actively following this thread.

I'll share my perspective on FOSS4G and the latest news. Again, a separate email forthcoming because there are lots of videos of the talks from Denver.

I don't think we have meet since FOSS4G in Denver. Perhaps we can get a
trip report from someone who was there?

+1 for October 20th meeting.
+1 to hear about the OTA info too.

To link the two, anyone have a rough map that shows what channels you
should be able to pick up with a given antenna at a given location in
Ottawa?

Ian

(legally) using an antenna. If you haven't heard, you can get high
definition television free over the air. Doing so is quite approachable
and saves a ton of cash if you don't care (that much) about niche
speciality channels.
