Since this answer changes so often, I think it would be great to collect
these answers on a MapServer wiki page (create a new page at
https://github.com/mapserver/mapserver/wiki).  You could start by
searching this mailing list for all of the previous related discussions,
and recording them on the wiki (search through
http://osgeo-org.1560.x6.nabble.com/MapServer-f4226623.html).

Thanks!

As Jeff wrote there are a few options, one of them is http://scribeui.org/

You can also test on the demo server before installing:
http://demo.scribeui.org/

As soon as Windows OS is concerned, you might also take a look at MapServer MapManager.

Best regards,

Hi,

There is also my « MapFile Generator » project (developed in PHP) : https://github.com/jbelien/MapFile-Generator

Still a work in progress (even if I haven’t much time for it for the moment) but it works quite well with basic MapFiles.

Good day.

Hi,

Test gvsig 2.2 final.
Download this software at http://www.gvsig.com/es/web/guest/productos/gvsig-desktop/descargas

The menu option "View->Export View->Export->Export View to server configuration" exports current project to mapfile with layers and styles.

bye.

I have added the latest responses onto a new wiki page
(https://github.com/mapserver/mapserver/wiki/MapFile-editors).  The hope
is that those that were scared to create a wiki page will find it easier
to edit an existing page :)

Please edit that as you wish.

Thanks,

-jeff

Yes I know ScribeUI ... and I tried to install it unsuccessfully !!
The installation process is a bit complex.
I will try again !

Thanks

I notice a Magnacarto presentation at FOSSGIS in Salzburg today:
CartoCSS to MapServer https://github.com/omniscale/magnacarto  I've
added this to our MapServer wiki at
https://github.com/mapserver/mapserver/wiki/MapFile-Editors

Thanks to everyone for maintaining that wiki page.

I know I'm two years late, but is there such a fuction in the newer versions
of gvSIG?

I can't seem to find it in version 2.4.
In the View -> Export I can only see "As image" and "as Georeferenced
Raster". Have they moved the button or was this a functionality of version
2.2 only?
Thanks!
