[MOTION] Move web content repository from SVN to GIT

Sandro Santilli-4
I propose to move the web content from the current SVN repository
to a GIT repository hosted on OSGeo machines (accessible with
OSGeo userid credentials):

  https://git.osgeo.org/gogs/postgis/postgis.net

I already took care of migrating all the history from SVN to GIT,
and am available to tweak the website updater script to fetch from
the new repository.

Will start with my obvious +1

Re: [MOTION] Move web content repository from SVN to GIT

+0.5

I like the idea if I don't have to do any work and I can actually commit to
gogs.  Last I tried I couldn't.

How about this - you go ahead and set things up.  We can do a test to
confirm I can commit to it.
And then you can officially move.  I'll change my vote to +1 if I can
commit.

I presume since Paul and Bborie haven't voted they have no opinion what so
ever.

Thanks,
Regina

The repository is in place:
https://git.osgeo.org/gogs/postgis/postgis.net
it is up to date with the SVN version (but not automatically kept
in sync).

Please make your tests in a branch (not master)
so we don't make it out-of-sync with SVN in case anything goes wrong.

Strk,

Okay I did a test commit and it went fine.

Push forward with resetting up the script to read from gogs and I'll test by committing my changes to master and verifying they flow thru.

While you are at it go ahead and move planet.postgis.net as well.

If after a couple of weeks all works okay, we should motion to move all of postgis.

I'm sure that's what Bborie ultimately wants and pramsey will be too lazy to fight. J

Thanks,

Regina

Script changed to fetch from git. Cron is still run every 5 minutes.

W/out a motion ?

[MOTION PASSED] Move web content repository from SVN to GIT

Sandro Santilli-4
In reply to this post by Sandro Santilli-4
With 2 positive votes (me and Regina) and no vetos,
I declare the motion passed.

The new official repository for web content is

 https://git.osgeo.org/gogs/postgis/postgis.net

I guess next step would be removing the "web" folder
from the SVN repository. Does anyone know how to do that ?

I think I can do that.  Let me do a couple more git commits and then I'll delete the old SVN folder.

That won't mess up your mirror right?

PostGIS Web folder on svn is now history.

Thanks,

I didn't set up a mirror, so no, nothing would be messed up on my
side. It'll be a pure-git repo.
