Hi,
I tried to override the system locale (english) with the german localization of QGIS. I can select "Deutsch" as a language in the options, but upon restart there is a problem: In the console I read: Warning: loading of qgis translation failed [/usr/local/share/qgis/i18n//qgis_Deutsch] Warning: loading of qt translation failed [/usr/share/qt4/translations/qt_Deutsch] I checked what files are in /usr/local/share/qgis/i18n and there is a qgis_de.qm file and no qgis_Deutsch.qm file. Why is QGIS looking for qgis_Deutsch? Anything wrong in my Ubuntu? Am I missing a package? Thanks for any hints, Andreas _______________________________________________ Qgis-developer mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-developer |

On further investigation I saw that on Ubuntu 12.04 I see the actual
fully written language name in the dropdown box (e.g. Deutsch), whereas in other systems where it actually works, the dropdown box contains language codes (e.g. de). Maybe the mapping of the dropdown list values does not work correctly in Ubuntu 12.04? Maybe the mapping > of the dropdown list values does not work correctly in Ubuntu > 12.04? - From Qt4.8 on the Language abbrev. should be automatically changed to the full language name. Strange thing is - I tried it on a ubuntu 12.04 with self compiled QGIS and everything worked well .. Don't know why it is looking for qgis_Deutsch on your Computer .. I am going to check that later today with my 12.04 Ubuntu VM.. if the self compiled still works there must be something with the package kind regards Werner -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk+rSHUACgkQDAH1YiCxBgm31wCcCnHm0t6w6jHI5QcIk1ujbsnx yWcAnRQp8e/P3Ky4jNnELQWOlgGq+VAO =evbx -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Qgis-developer mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-developer |

I tried it last time but appearently missed to fully switch the language and was satisfied with the written full country. So there must be something else going on with selecting the language. It only appears when you are using Qt4.8 because this version is able to do the abbrev.->Countryname conversion by itself .. Seems that we have to do it in another way because from my side written names are much more convenient than abbrevations. If there will be no fast solution I think we should disable the conversion for the 1.8 release.. thanks for reporting kind regards Werner -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk+rVUMACgkQDAH1YiCxBgngFwCeOWIHpZcmml9/KBtOq4V/t1qf HKwAn1Fb3HjBc5dx176SUyKi3LKEuQZs =XhUN -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Qgis-developer mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-developer |
