Issue building website with Visual Changelog

Andreas Neumann-4

Hi,

I am trying to publish the 3.8 visual changelog to our webiste. I downloaded the rst zip file from changelog, extracted it in the appropriate folder of my local repo and checked it in.

Now I get the following error from travis trying to build the website:

-------------------

-----------------

I don't know what this error messages means. Presumably some issue with image substitution. Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks,
Andreas

Re: Issue building website with Visual Changelog

To make the rst from the changelog application work you have to clean up
the rst a little, some parts of the image-stuff has to be removed, some
other errors fixed, some rearrangement and adding an index.

Easier when you can build it locally, instead of having to wait every
travis build :-)

I will have a look later this evening.

Hi Richard,

Thanks a lot for your help. I'd like to learn it how to do it, so I can do it myself next time.

Sounds more like something that should be fixed in the application…

Thanks a lot Richard!

Any idea what happened to the images? They appear to be cropped and not
animated, in the past they appeared differently, see e.g.
https://qgis.org/en/site/forusers/visualchangelog34/ . Was this an
intentional change?

Mmm, no, I just take the rst from the export and tweak it a little to
make it build etc.

I do not remember changing the images back to gif in earlier versions ...

See:
http://duif.net/rst.zip
those are  fresh exports of today... as you see on the bottom of the
index.rst, now in both versions only png and jpeg
So I think the export function changed (or the lib that is changed to
create rst...)

I do not see any recent commit having changed the image type:
https://github.com/kartoza/prj.app/commits/develop

Tim, Ismail, Anita? Any clue?

Richard Duivenvoorde

No clue from my side :-( So you are not getting any gifs in the feed? Maybe Anita can save us...

Re: Issue building website with Visual Changelog

Anita Graser
Thanks for porting the changelog!

There is one issue though: the images in the ported changelog are the cropped previews and not the original images.

For example here:
the cropped image is pretty much useless compared to the original image at

Thanks for noting Anita.
I just used what the export provided.
But since last export my PR was pulled :-) and that or somebody else
fixed that instead of only the thumbnails now the real images are
provided... \o/
AND they still have the same name, so just adding the images and some
search replacing, and seems fixed... plz look at next build, tomorrow

Richard

Hi Anita,

Thanks! At least the images are better now! The rest I will have to look
into the next time we do the export.

But thanks for now!
