: Information and Building Issue on Windows

jratike80

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the Windows build, programs seem to run fine.

During a quick test I noticed that ossim-info could not find correct projection info from my JPEG2000 images. They are georeferenced with the UUID/GeoTIFF box and GDAL reads the projection correctly.  Is the GeoTIFF in JPEG2000 supposed to work with OSSIM tools? Do you want me to study this further by trying to generate a minimal sample image?

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your help.

I have tried to build the ossim_core_project located in the source code
delivered through the svn but it didn't work.
When I try to compile it, I get those kind of errors :
c1xx : fatal error C1083: Cannot open source file:
'..\..\ossim\kbool\booleng.cpp': No such file or directory

and this other type of error :
1>..\..\..\include\ossim/base/ossimReferenced.h(8): fatal error C1083:
Cannot open include file: 'OpenThreads/ScopedLock': No such file or
directory
1>  ossimDtedUhl.cpp

I looked for those files among the trunk file but never found them.

It begins to become quite tricky and I think something went wrong from the
beginning. I might consider starting again from scratch, could you explain
me the main steps? I don't find the wiki so clear as for the building
instructions.

Anyway, thank you for your time ! I really appreciate it.

Cheers,

Re: : Information and Building Issue on Windows

Andyjo
You’ll need one of the following plugins to deal with JP2000 & OSSIM:
ossim_gdal_plugin
ossim_kakadu_plugin
ossim_openpjeg_plugin

You take a pretty big hit in performance (at least from what i’ve experienced) using the gdal plugin, but then again, openjpeg isn’t the speediest decoder/encoder out there either.

Hi Andy,

The Windows binaries I downloaded from the link below are built with Kakadu and I have no problem in opening JPEG2000 images. My problem is that OSSIM does not get the georeferencing right from my images which are created to embed projection into so called GeoJP2™ box. It does recognize the coordinates but not the projection. I have not yet tried if it would behave better with georeferencing embedded in an OGC way into a GML box.

Hi Jukka,

It should pick up the box.  Can I get a sample?  Or you could turn trace on and send to me a dump.  Like:

ossim-info -d -i -p -T ossimKakadu <input-file>

Thanks,
Dave

Just a follow up.  I downloaded and tested on my VM and all is fine. Did you source the ossim.bat file?  It needs the epsg csv files. You can do a "ossim-info --config" to test.

Hi,

I did start with “ossim.bat” and I correct georeferecing from the image after converting it to GeoTIFF with GDAL.

You can find some images from here http://kartat.kapsi.fi/files/orto/etrs-tm35fin/mara_vv_25000_50/2015/M34/02m/1/.

They are open data, CC-BY 4.0 (National Land Survey of Finland)

It should pick up the box.  Can I get a sample?  Or you could turn trace on and send to me a dump.  Like:

Thanks,

I apologize.  The path to the csv files in my preferences is BAD.  I won't be able to rebuild and repost until I get home tonight.  You can fix by editing the preferences file. So given and install path(example) of:

D:\ossimEdit D:\ossim\share\ossim-preferences

Change the paths to below and that should fix you.

epsg_database_file1: $(OSSIM_INSTALL_PREFIX)\share\ossim\projection\ossim_epsg_projections-v7_4.csv
epsg_database_file2: $(OSSIM_INSTALL_PREFIX)\share\ossim\projection\ossim_harn_state_plane_epsg.csv
epsg_database_file3: $(OSSIM_INSTALL_PREFIX)\share\ossim\projection\ossim_state_plane_spcs.csv
epsg_database_file4: $(OSSIM_INSTALL_PREFIX)\share\ossim\projection\ossim_harn_state_plane_esri.csv

// Database file for WKT-based projection factory:
wkt_database_file: $(OSSIM_INSTALL_PREFIX)\share\ossim\projection\ossim_wkt_pcs.csv

Sorry for the grief!

Take care,
Dave

A dump below shows that correct info is found from the uuid-GeoTIFF box

Just a follow up.  I downloaded and tested on my VM and all is fine. Did you source the ossim.bat file?  It needs the epsg csv files. You can do a "ossim-info --config" to test.

Hi Jukka,

It should pick up the box.  Can I get a sample?  Or you could turn trace on and send to me a dump.  Like:

ossim-info -d -i -p -T ossimKakadu <input-file>

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Pierre,

I have a pre-built binary windows installer with ossim-geocell and all the command line apps.  It was built with VS 2012 (vs11), and QT5. Link:

If you install, cd to the install dir and source the ossim.bat file.  That will set your environment.

If you still want to build it.  You have to start with the dependencies.  That's the hardest part.  So your first error on kbool tells me something is terribly wrong.  We removed the kbool dependency a while ago.  Second error, you're missing OpenThreads which is a dependency.  OpenThreads is part of OpenSceneGraph, which is a whole build by itself.  Anyway it's tricky.  If you still want to proceed...  There is this.  Note that it's old.  But it might help you get started.   I don't have a current vs 2010 build.

Take care,

Dave

Cheers,

Hi,

Taking extra \ossim away from the paths fixed it, thanks.

I apologize.  The path to the csv files in my preferences is BAD.  I won't be able to rebuild and repost until I get home tonight.  You can fix by editing the preferences file. So given and install path(example) of:

Just a follow up.  I downloaded and tested on my VM and all is fine. Did you source the ossim.bat file?  It needs the epsg csv files. You can do a "ossim-info --config" to test.

Hi Jukka,

It should pick up the box.  Can I get a sample?  Or you could turn trace on and send to me a dump.  Like:

ossim-info -d -i -p -T ossimKakadu <input-file>

Thanks,

Dave

Take care,

Dave

Cheers,
