GeoTif Elevation Conversion question

exactscience04
I have multiple GeoTIFFs, originally tiled from 32float arcinfo binary grids with the elevation stored in meters.

To save space I want to convert these 32floats to 16Int with out losing any precession. I would like to convert the elevation meters to feet before I use gdal_merge them into 1 BigTIFF but I am not sure how.

Here is the info on the tiles. Thanks very much in advance.
