Custom projection

Stephen Crawford
I'm trying to define a custom projection in postGIS/GeoServer.  I believe I
have the postGIS side of things completed.  But on the GeoServer side I
tried to follow directons at:
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/Custom+projection+definition+in+Geo
server

It says to fist decompress the gt2-epsg-h.jar to then make changes to the
EPSG.sql file.  However, my version of GS--1.3.0-RC7--does not have
"gt2-epsg-h.jar", it has "gt2-epsg.jar", and when I decompress this, there
is no directory named "factory" and therfore no file "
org/geotools/referencing/factory/epsg/EPSG.sql".  So I'm a bit stumped.  Is
there still a cached epsg database being created for GS?

Also, the projection I hope(need!) to use is listed at this site, srid =
102003:
http://arcweb.esri.com/arcwebonline/services/pcs.htm

All of these projections srid >= 102000 are not in epsg/postGIS/GeoServer,
and I was wondering if there are plans to add these someday? are these srids
"offical" or just made up by ESRI?

The crux of my problem is that I want to use an Albers equal area projection
for the lower 48, and I can't seem to find one that already exists in
postGIS/GeoServer.

Note: I'm using Windows, installed with the .war into Tomcat.  This is just
a "practice" set-up on my desktop, though the final project will probably be
on a Linux box.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

Yes, the jar isn't distributed with GeoServer, the docs dont seem to
reflect that.  However I have built you one and posted it here.

http://dist.codehaus.org/geoserver/gt2-epsg-hsql.jar

If you try again with this jar the docs should make a bit more sense.

BTW  Steve, you can insert the WKT for your projection in the

I inserted the WKT into the epsg.properties file, and works great.  Thanks a

Re: Custom projection

That makes sense, the WCS branch must have already moved to HSQL, we
have been wanting to do the same on trunk, just have not gotten around
to it.
