Bug geoserver outputformat=shape-zip version 1.1.0 and 2.0.0 coordinates

GeoServer - User mailing list
Dear geoserver users, I found that there are coordinates problems in geoserver when we export WFS features using outputformat=shape-zip version 1.1.0 and 2.0.0. The problem is that the shp.zip have like a coordinate mirror .

In the version 1.0.0 there is not problem.

For example:

http://localhost:8080/geoserver/prueba/ows?
&service=WFS
&version=1.0.0
&request=GetFeature
&typeNames=prueba:view_prueba
&outputformat=shape-zip

I hope to help with this bug report

Best regards,

Hi,

But the outputformat is zipped shapefile, I believe that valid shapefiles are always using the longitude-latitude or easting-northing order.

There seems to be an old Jira issue about this https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/browse/GEOS-2397.

Re: Bug geoserver outputformat=shape-zip version 1.1.0 and 2.0.0 coordinates

geowolf
Hi Jukka,
yes and no... it's not a clear cut issue, because you are asking for a specific CRS when doing requests (the default one declared in the caps document if you don't specify one directly). The WFS specification does not say  anything about rectifying it based on the output format (at least, that I know of). So if we forced axis to east/north we'd have a valid shapefile that's an invalid response to the WFS request.
The shapefile generated today has a prj with the axis order clearly indicated, even when axis are swapped, but client programs do not read it properly as far as I know.

Regadless, the real reason why we are still having this discussion is that nobody put sponsoring (money) behind the issue, if that were to happen,
we could have a configuration flag to prefer the service axis ordering, or the format preferred one, and put the issue to bed.

Cheers
Andrea
