Adding new Symbology

Miguel Verdú
Hi everyone,

That's the first time I write in the developers mailing list, and it's because I'm creating some symbology libraries I draw myself, mainly two libraries:
  • ESI (Environmental Sensitivity Index of the NOAA): Based on the icons and colors of the NOAA to make ESI maps. I create the icons for the human resources and biological resources, and the color scheme for the poligonal shapes with the shore types colors. (created with inkscape in svg format)
  • Map pictographs: It's a group of common icons or pictographs I create in inkscape (svg format too) based on the national park service of the USA and some others I create by my own based on other common signals (example: beach.svg added).

I write you here because I think it could be interesting to include this symbology icons to the default programa, maybe in the 2.0 version. For this I have a question:

In the *.sym file at the image line, there work the relative paths from the default program symbology directory? I tried and doesn't works, I tried with:

<property key="imagePath" value="\map_pictographs\airport.svg"/>

The point is to the same *.sym file works in Linux, Windows and Mac versions, because when I create it keeps the complete path, for isntance: <property key="imagePath" value="C:\Users\Calidad\gvSIG\Symbols\basic\map_pictographs\airport.svg"/> or "/home/miguel/gvSIG/Symbols/basic/map_pictographs/airport.svg"

by other hand I create a MDT3.xml color table or scheme based on the ArcGis default dem colors. I think it's useful to share the same dem aspect.

Greetings.

Miguel Verdú.

Re: Adding new Symbology

Hola Miguel.

    <property key="imagePath" value="Fall_But_14.svg"/>
    <property key="selImagePath" value="Fall_But_14.svg"/>
